When I finished my Bachelor of Education almost 14 years ago I recall having a piece of paper stating that I was a teacher, but no real sense of who I was. I defined the feeling to my newly wed husband as "not knowing what my hobbies are".
As time progressed I dabbled and faffed about with a few different things...But it wasn't until I stopped teaching six years ago to have my first child that my creative energy was released from the classroom to find its place in my home.
And so now I quilt and stitch, I knit and scrapbook, I sew clothes and soft furnishings, and I have just started the fun of converting pre-loved clothes into costumes and outfits for my girls. And chasing the tail of my lengthening project list are even more ideas for things I'd like to try, if not complete.
Somewhere in there I try to maintain my vegetable garden, plan interesting and nutritious meals for my family, read, write, catch up with friends, pursue church interests and keep the house clean.
Oh, and did I mention I'm trying to raise two beautiful, intelligent, active and good humoured girls?
Sounds like my time is all booked up. I'd best go and have a cup of tea.
