I have a little pad of paper and a pen I carry in my handbag to use whenever I need to keep Miss Two quiet or amused for a few moments. Sometimes she will use it to draw, but often she will ask me to draw something for her. And usually she asks for a "tat", otherwise known as a cat. And so I took to drawing these little cartoon style cats that now find themselves evolving.
On seeing a page of little "tats", Gadgetman suggested that they might just make a cute stitchery. And he didn't have to suggest it twice.
So today in my creative space I am working on five drawings that will become five stitcheries in a wall hanging for Miss Two's bedroom. I bought the fabric for the project last week at a delightful quilting shop in Koo Wee Rup while we were on the road home from a week away on Phillip Island.
While this week you find me with my 2B pencil in hand, bringing little cats to life, Miss Almost Six's birthday is looming, so expect to see my birthday projects over the next week or so!
What's filling your Creative Space this week?
What a special project for Miss Two. I am sure she will treasure them; perhaps they will even end up in one of your grandchildren’s rooms one day???
ReplyDeleteLove your cats, I got very good at drawing Thomas the Tank and friends when my boys were smaller!
ReplyDeleteOH they are terrific!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to the being made to draw for the little one. Unfortunately my tats don't look near as good as yours. lol Drawing is hard for me but I do a lot of stick people... well stick mummy & daddy & bj. Haven't worked out stick dogs, cats, elmos... etc...
That is the most gorgeous idea for a wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing it hanging.
Thanks for your kind comments, everyone. I will be sure to post further photos of this wall hanging as I progress with it. Miss Two has seen the pictures I have done and refers to them as "my tats" - she is delighted already.
