Yes - that's a box of markety goodness, right there.
I have recently become part of a church that operates on a different wavelength to most. And, well, to cut a long story short, one of the first things I am doing in terms of my involvement is running a market stall at a local, and somewhat humble (ie: small), market. It's the first step of a much, much larger vision - but when another church member floated the idea my heart began to race and my passion flared. And the vision has since quite got away from us all and we can't wait to see how it all evolves.
But for now we will be starting small with our stall hosting donated goods that are recylced, upcycled, home grown and hand made with 100% of the donated monies we raise (ie: we won't be charging set prices for our items - just accepting donations) going towards a worthy cause. We won't be charged a site fee as we are fundraising, and we won't be keeping any of the money for overhead costs - it all goes to the charity of our choosing. A great way to start, even if our future vision means that in time we need to tweak this method of operation.
So for my part, I have unpacked all the boxes of bric-a-brac I had put away and washed it all ready for the stall. And made a few little items from my fabric left-overs (you may recognise the bean-bag stripes in the box above) - like passport wallets and pencil rolls. And in the process I have been going through my box of fabric scraps and started to sort them into groups - first by fabric type, then I changed to a colour base system, but I think I am finally settling on purpose based categories.
So that's my Creative Space today.
(Actually, my Creative Space today has literally been spent at the Melbourne Zoo where we heard lions roar, watched Tigers feed, and learned that our poo is the most unique poo in the zoo. Once the girls are tucked up in bed I shall get back to putting the final stitches in my market items.)
