Holiday Cooking

I've been helping do the stocktake at Miss Six's school library which, today, landed me in the right place at the right time for me to pick up this well-read but now withdrawn book:

Looks like we'll have a bit of fun cooking these holidays - what shall we make first? Cowcumber Boats? Poetical Egg Salad Sandwiches? Or Anne's Liniment Cake?

Or do I need to head to the quilting shop to find some perfectly poetic fabric with which to make a cover for the book?
