I Bite My Thumb At Melbourne Spring Weather!

Miss Seven had a student-free day today, which would normally mean we would whip out our FOTZ membership and use such a day for a zoo visit when the crowds are low. But one look at the forecast changed our plans.

13 degrees, rain, wind and hail.

Some would curse Melbourne weather when seeing this come up on the radar, but we became excited. What perfect weather for staying inside and crafting!

We started the day with a Charlie and Lola sticker book, moved to a little TV (while I had the chance to shower and get a little housework done). Then morning tea followed by a selection of activities from our Mister Maker book - there's always something in there for which we have all the materials!

Sure enough, as we were blowing paint through straws the hail came down.

So onto a party pie picnic on the playroom floor, then off to the TV room to choose a movie - Wallace and Grommit's The Curse Of The Were Rabbit being the girls' choice. Then into the kitchen to make chocolate raspberry brownie (served with raspberries and cream, of course) and, while it was cooking, we finished off our Mister Maker art work.

With the little energy left after all of that, we worked on Miss Seven's cardboard doll house she was given for her birthday - the perfect gift for a rainy day.

And next it's dinner and then snuggling up in warm, cosy beds.

Oh, and just incase any of you have heard the rumours of Melbourne weather being "Four Seasons In One Day", the other Lady of the House is here demonstrating that along with the rain, wind and hail we did also have some sunshine!

  2. Sounds like you made good use of the day! Personally, I hung the washing out in the windy & sunny bit of the day, left it there for the hail, and dragged it in after the dinner.
