I am forever striving to be better in the garden but always seem to fall short of being where I want to be. I find it hard to focus on so many plants all at the one time and something always gets too big or too eaten or too diseased or too dry or too tired of being thrust in the wrong location with the wrong amount of sun and the wrong level of drainage.
But every now and then I get something right and reap the rewards. And here is today's pick of the bunch...
It's a Royal Gala from the tree that we planted just under a year ago. When it set fruit we had to provide it with not only bird protection but stability as well since it was bent over double with the weight of the apples. Our net-covered pyramid made from poly pipe has worked perfectly and we are looking forward to many days of crunching fresh apples in the next week or so.
wow - that's impressive!

I love your pyramid! (and the apple - it looks so perfect). Well done on getting fruit so early too - my ballerina apples have been in for years, but we don't get much off them, which isn't much of a fallback when the supermarket wants to charge me $10 a kg for them.
