Princess Baldy Head

Miss So-Close-To-Four-I-Might-As-Well-Call-Her-Miss-Four is turning four next week, and we are having staggered celebrations. I didn't quite feel up to doing an all in party this year, so we had one set of grandparents over last weekend, we'll have the other set plus an aunty over next weekend, we'll have her actual birthday during the week, and today we had four friends over for lunch and a birthday play.

But even in the absence of the usual birthday fanfare (and let's face it, little girls are equally as happy dressing up and eating fairy bread as they are playing fancy games that take more organisational ability than I have right now) we still had to have The Cake.

What would you like? I ask her.

A princess cake, she replies. A pink one with marshmallows and strawberries.

And so Baldy Head, the cheap doll whose hair is only one layer deep (thus the eloquent name bestowed upon her) and whose body parts all come off as soon as you try to dress her, had a make-over into Princess Baldy Head as seen above.

How did you do that, mum? Was the delighted question from the birthday girl and I knew I had done good.

And speaking of bestowing names, my dressmaker's dummy is currently going by the name of Maud. I don't know if it will stick...
